James Brown - Black Caesar - 1974
James Joseph Brown (May 3, 1933 – December 25, 2006), commonly referred to as “The Godfather of Soul” and “The Hardest Working Man in Show Business,” was an American entertainer recognized as one of the most influential figures in 20th century popular music.
He was renowned for his shouting vocals, feverish dancing and unique rhythmic style.
The film was written and directed Larry Cohen. It is a remake of the 1931 film Little Caesar.
It features a notable musical score by James Brown (with heavy input from his bandleades Fred Wesley), his first experience of writing music for film.
A sequel titled, Hell Up in Harlem was released in late 1973.
